Treasures of China - Xian to Beijing

13 nights/14 days

On this tour we will visit the two greatest wonders of China - the Great Wall and the Tomb of the Terra Cotta Soldiers. We cycle around both Xian, Beijing and to Mt. Huashan. We hike on Mt. Huashan and many of the Great Wall's less traveled sections. Unique also to this tour is the opportunity to ride on China's Iron Horse.

Treasures of China Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Beijing. Transferred to Hotel of two nights - the Tian Tan Parkview.(3)

Day 2: An early morning look at Taiji exercises at the Temple of Heaven. After breakfast a cycle ride to Tiananmen Square and the Palace Museum. We have a late afternoon train from Beijing to Xian with our overnight on the train.

Day 3: Noon arrival in Xian. Afternoon visit to the Wild Goose Pagoda, the Great Mosque and the City Wall. Transferred to our hotel of two nights - the Bell Tower Hotel (4).

Day 4: Spend a full morning at the Shaanxi Provincial Museum, then cycle 20 km to visit the archeological digs of the ancient Banpo Village as well as Huaqing Pool.

Day 5: Cycle to the Tombs of the Terra Cotta Warriors. In the afternoon we continue cycling 40 km to the foot of Mt. Huashan. Overnight at the Hua Xia Hotel Lintong (2).

Day 6: Full day of hiking on Mt. Huashan. Overnight on the Mountain Top Hua Shan Hotel (2).

Day 7: Downhill by Gondola and a coach return to Xian. Overnight at the Bell Tower Hotel (4).

Day 8: Morning flight back to Beijing. In the afternoon we will cycle 25 km to JiXian. Overnight at the Construction Hotel (3).

Day 9: Cycle 35 km to the Great Wall. Commence hiking after lunch. Overnight at the Huang Ya Guan Hotel (1) our accommodation of three nights.

Day 10: Continue hiking a full day along the wall.

Day 11: Continue the hiking forays on the Wall.

Day 12: Coach back to Beijing. An afternoon visit to the Summer Palace and an acrobatic performance this night. Overnight at our hotel of two nights - the Tian Tan Parkview (3)

Day 13: Cycle the back streets of Beijing and ending up at a Lama Temple. Tonight we will feast on the famous Peking Duck.

Day 14: Transfer to airport for flight home.
